RANAWELLAGE LILANTHA KAVIN RANAWELLA
Hello,
I encountered a problem in building the project with the command 'ant -quiet buildsource’. I already have installed maven. And the command 'ant -quiet clobber’

It says;
[setJdkProperties] Unrecognized VM vendor: 'Oracle Corporation'
[setJdkProperties] An attempt to configure the required JDKs will be made, but the build may fail.
[setJdkProperties] In case of problems:
[setJdkProperties]   - consult BUILDING.html and set the required properties manually
[setJdkProperties]   - set the property printCompilerProperties to true and ask the Derby development community for help
[setJdkProperties]     (please provide the debug output from running ant)

BUILD FAILED
/Users/kavinranawella/10.8/build.xml:252: Don't know how to set java15compile.classpath, java16compile.classpath using this environment:

java.vendor = Oracle Corporation
java.home = /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_121.jdk/Contents/Home/jre
java.version = 1.8.0_121
os.name = Mac OS X
j14lib = null
j15lib = null
j16lib = null
jdkSearchPath = /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_121.jdk/Contents

Please consult BUILDING.html for instructions on how to set the compiler-classpath properties.

Can you help me with this. I think this is an issue with my OS (OS X 10.12.6 ).

Thank you.

Hi!

Are you building the current head of source code from the Subversion repository?

Or are you building older source code from a downloaded source jar?

I thought we had fixed the "unrecognized VM vendor" problem a long time ago:

Can you look and see if that fix from DERBY-5310 is present in the copy of the source code you are building?

thanks,

bryan

This build output contains diagnostics which are no longer produced by the build.xml script in the derby trunk. For instance, java15compile.classpath is no longer a build setting--that is because the trunk requires JDK 8 or higher and the derby build no longer produces byte code that runs on older java versions.

Hope this helps,
-Rick
